Library Shelver, Part-time

Downers Grove Public Library is seeking a friendly, enthusiastic shelver for our customer-centric Circulation team. Shelvers monitor the automatic materials sorter, shelve materials, and keep materials in order. In addition, shelvers help support the department by performing closing procedures and other tasks as needed.

We are looking for candidates who have the ability to:

  • Correctly file alphabetically and numerically
  • Complete detailed work accurately
  • Prioritize and multitask in a busy environment
  • Walk and stand for extended periods
  • Lift materials and push carts loaded with books
  • Adapt well to technological changes

This position is a year-round, part-time position averaging 16 hours per week. The hours for the position are Wednesdays 1-5 p.m., Thursdays 5-9:15 p.m., Fridays 9 a.m.-1 p.m., and includes Saturday and Sunday rotations of four-hour shifts. The salary range is $14.00-$15.07 per hour, depending on experience.

Our directory is a tool for students and caregivers to use at their own discretion. All communication, fee negotiation, scheduling, background verification, etc. must occur between tutor and client. Tutors will be listed in alphabetical order by last name. Tutors must be 18+.
